removing drive shaft

wanted to know if you remove frt. drive shaft will you get

better MPG 2001 ex v-10

Probably not, unless your hubs are locked the front drive shaft doesn't turn. You should be able to reach behind your front wheels and grab the yokes and turn them by hand freely. If you can't either your hubs aren't unlocked or your transfer case is engaged and you need to get the actuator fixed.

Oh yeah, the reason you may have heard this tip in the past is that in old days there were some 4WD systems that were a variation of what we called "full time 4WD". People generally installed manual hubs and/or removed the front drive shaft to help mileage and lessen wear on all the parts. There were also people that towed their jeeps without a trailer and dropped the shafts for reasons I remember but you really don't care about.
