I don't know why or even if it's just me, but my old Corn binder is sure hard to start. I have had problems with the carb. in the past, but the truck runs fine and starts well except for the first time in the day. I have started carbed trucks well since I was 12, but is it me?
Any ideas, or am I just loosing my knack for starting carbed vehicles?
How much do you pump your inline sixes? I thought I had it done pat but now I'm having difficulty either not pumping enough or almost flooding.
Some of them can be miserable, just trail and error. We have an old Dodge at the farm, on a sunny day pump twice pull the choke and it fires right up. On a cloudy day pump til your foot is sore, pull the coke and it fires right up, doesn't matter what time of the year.
I had a 63 F600 (292) that did not like to start with the starter but would fire right away with a short pull. Never did figure it out all though it did help when I replaced the starter as the old one was dragging slightly.
My inlaws '64 IH has a manual choke. I just keep it closed till she fires. If you've got a automatic choke, I dunno. My '86 dodge, I just pump it lots, summer or winter.
