My 67 has a later model door on the driver's side (has the cam type inner door handle instead of the lever pull) Is it possible to install the older mechanism on the newer door. The profile of the inner door skin is different, but looks like it might be doable. Anybody done it?
Well, you need to remeber that the door panel is different on the 67. Also, the lock uses the the little **** on the later model door. I have a 67 myself but I have never thought to look if the inner door structure was different. I guess you could get a 67 door panel if you think you can make it go. What about the lock?
The door panels are not an issue, as I'm replaceing the originals with custom made ones anyway. The inner skin on the later door has an indent where the handle fits that the 67 does not. what I want to do is replace the handle and lock assembly with a 67 unit, but the problem is the indent on the door skin will not allow the shaft for the handle to extend out far enough to reach through the door panel. Anybody have a remedy for the problem?
Do not quote me on this but I think I heard somewhere that the 67 doors are specificly 67 and the 68-72 are not interchangable with parts.
If the only thing keeping you from putting the 67 handle on is the indent why not cut out the indent and weld a patch on or try to tap out or pull out the indent?
Just my thoughts?????????????????????????????????????????? ?????

You are right the 67 door is a one year only. I guess my only 2 options are to cut and weld as you suggest or replace one of the doors to match the other. Thanks
