Just got a call from my son who works for a local auto body shop. He says that they just got in the THIRD F350 Crew Cab that has had the front driveline fail and punch a hole in the floorboard!! Now I don't know too many specifics - if it was all gassers, all diesels, or a combination; what year these trucks were - just know that they are 2003 or newer; if they were towing at the time or not; I know at least some of them were automatics (don't know if all were or not).
Since I am going to go pick up a new fifth wheel in a couple weeks I was wondering if anyone else has heard of this? Sure would hate to have my brand new 5'er stacked up on the road someplace before I ever got her home! Not to mention my truck skewered!
Also Ford is not issuing a recall as of yet and is not acknowleging the problem...leaving the insurance companies to deal with it instead!
I would also bet my money on lifted trucks or high mileage trucks that are used and abused with no maintainence. I have a 12/02 buils SD with 77K on it and no probs of that nature yet (knock, knock, knock on wood.)
Could the driveline crumple, split (Worm) and shove itself into the drivers floor? ( Extremely unlikely ! !) What ya runnin 2000 horse Mod ? Even with diesel grunt, your unlikely to see this.
