I have snapped the yoke off the rear pinion shaft with my 6.9.
Unfortunatly I can not find a heavier yoke to fit the Sterling axle.
I have also turned several Spicer U joints into schrapnel.
That would be the weak point for the Cat engine torque.
i also like the big Cummins in a road truck. As meat haulers we wrote the HP trick book. We moded the injectors and ran our own specs on injector push rod torque when we ran the rack. Also we had manual control pneumatic clutches on all the accessories on the engine. If you don't need it, turn it off so you could use the HP to go faster.
I know this isnt the place, but I have a 94 7.3 with 69k sitting on a skid that will be going on ebay. Let me know if you want to stay mechanical injection.
farmnfly,
I think your post is OK since there were no dollar amounts listed, and I will PM you when I find out where I stand with my warranty on the engine I have now. I just hope they don't take to long to let me know what is going on.
As of yesterday they are looking for another engine for me.
Anything I should know about my International 7.3L engine? I read through and got a bit of an idea of what to look for, just wondering about some tips maybe? since we are getting into engines here
Well the salvage yard delivered an 87 6.9 today, but no mileage was indicated. Also it came out of an 86 truck, but has the 87 wiring harness and new style glow plugs.
So this time I am tearing it down and rebuilding before I install it . That will void any warranty I will have, but I have had about enough of the engine swaps.
The last one was consuming way more oil than I liked from day one.
Rear main was leaking, right rear head was seeping and both rocker covers were leaking. Plus the blow by was more than I cared for.
Now I just hope I remember all the tricks I used to do, guess time will tell if I still have it or not. I just hope I run out of goodies to buy before I run out of dollars.
At least this time I will know exactly what I have under the hood and how hard I can push it.
