hell0, longtime listerner first time caller.anyway i had a leak at the turbo so decide to reseal couldn't be that though of a job right. boy i couldn't have been so wrong!! i have taken the 2 bolts and 2 nuts of the exhaust flange and the front two of the pedastal. this is were the adventure begins the back two bolt were design by satin there can be no other explaination! finally got them broke loose and either they are the longest bolt in history or they don'tcome out. the turbo still is solid no sign of comeing out any help would be apprieciated.
Hey there is four bolts that hold the pedistal to the motor and also two bolts and two nuts that hold the exhaust flange to the turbo. It sounds like you are putting new exhaust seals in not orings but there is also two orings between the turbo and and the pedistal and two between pedistal and motor the turbo is held to the pedistal with four bolts that come up through the bottom I have never tryed to take those out while it was still on the truck so I don't know if it can be done. I know that sounds real confusing but if you look at the last two pictures in my gallery you can see what I am talking about I believe. You are right on the design by satin. But you will get it shoot back with any more questions.
I just reread your post and it sounds like you have all the bolts out. You do have the exhaust unhooked and free I sometimes use a ratchet strap to pull the exhaust pipe a little out of my way. Also both intakes off the turbo If you do you should be able to wiggle it up and out of there. It is pretty heavy when you are laying across the top of the motor so be ready. Those back bolts are a pain make sure to put them back in before trying to remount on the truck. I am sure someone else will chime in shortly with more suggestions.
I would really be careful not to break the pedistal they are not cheap. There is oil passages that run through the pedistal and over to the ebpv. If you are not going to use the ebpv as a brake and you break it you might look for a pedistal that doesn't have one. Just a suggestion. Good luck.
If you've removed the 4 bolts through the pedastal and the 4 that hold the exhaust flange to the turbo, that's all there are. No need to use a prybar to lift the turbo. If it isn't loose, you haven't got all the bolts loose.
i have all the bolt/ nuts loose and out execpt the two in the back of the pedastal. they are loose and i have been turn them for about 2 hrs how long are they!!
