I was curious if anyone has ordered a remanufactured motor from any of the on-line companies and what the outcome was (warranty/quality/hassle)? My 460 is burning about two quarts of oil per 1000 miles and I think it is time to start looking for sources. Thanks for any help.
I bought one from Engines Direct in AZ about 1.5 years ago. They had it on eBay and it was shipped to my door for $99.00 I installed it and everything was perfect except the valve covers were different. I'd buy from them again any day of the week. I don't know if they carry the 460 any more because mine was supposed to be one of the last.
Check eBay and check the feed back. I'd also look into having a local shop do the work, it's a lot faster/cheaper to deal with a local company.
I have read good thing about these folks. Never used them myself but the prices seem OK and the warranty is better than most. www.rebuilt-auto-engines.com
considering you already have a 460 it's been my experience to rebuild the one you have. You can get rings bearings pistons gaskets at a pretty resonable price if your just going for stock the hi-pro stuff gets pretty spendy!
