Power Steering Fluid Volcano
I've done my brakes myself my entire life. I've always just grabbed the rotor and pulled the steering one way or the other to get the caliper that I was working on out where I can get at it and never had a problem. I've done the brakes on my PSD twice now. The first time I grabbed the rotor and pulled.... the cap blew off my PS pump and pissed a ton of fluid out. Thought that was strange, figured it was just over filled by the previous owner and moved on. I did them again yesterday. I moved it the first time with out thinking about it and some fluid pissed out, but not bad. So the second time I actualy got in the truck and used the steering wheel to do it. Again, I had a volcano of fluid coming out of my pump. I'm assuming that I just can't do it with this system, but figured I'd see if there was an issue here or not. Any input?

ps - I posted here because I figured the hydroboost are more common on the PSD's. Let me know if I should post somewhere else.

I've had that happen. I think its because the fluid is pushed back through the return line but the pump is not turning to push it back through the high pressure line. Thats what i'm thinking anyways.
