1993 F350 4x4 Reg Cab 460 EFI 5 spd. Noticed a coolant leak that was traced to the OEM oil filter cooler adapter...I think that is what it is called. Makes it so that the oil filter is mounted in a vertical position.
Does this cooler adapter have coolant running into it? Can see two hoses going to it...so thought that coolant runs to it. I prefer not to attack the problem, until I know more.
none of the oil filter adaptors I have seen have coolant running through them (notice I said not that Ihave seen) the 2 hoses should be running to a remote oil cooler
mine has a similar leak that has shown up from the water pump and it trickles down to the oil filter area i had to search pretty hard to find it but mine is also a 85 so it might not be the same thing just clean the engine and look real hard for it you can also get a dye to tint your water and see it better but i cant recall the name
well i found my leak it was between the water pump adapter plate and block i would sugest that is where its coming from. there are two gaskets on the water pump so make sure to get both if you change it i didnt and had to walk to the parts store. thank god its only a block away. the good news is that they are under ten bucks for both or close to it. i could be wrong too as both your trucks are far newer and efi but thatswhere i would start
That two gasket deal has bitten many a Ford mechanic! Some of the bolts that hold the water pump, some front brackets and the timing chain cover go into the cooling system. Often a bit of sealant on the threads will resolve this problem. And sometines the timing chain cover is rotten and must be replaced. Pressure wash the front of the engine and try to spot the leak and if it is small toss in a can of bars leaks. I think bars leaks is just good insurance!
