rough country add-a-leaf question

hey guys, i got a 96 Bronco and I'm trying to install my lift kit myself. i got the Rough Coutry 6" lift with blocks and an add-a-leaf for the rear. my question is, where does this extra leaf go? My spring pack has 4 leaves held together by a metal band thing and then an overload leaf below them. If I am correct, the extra leaf goes on top of that overload spring and below the 4 pack of springs. Well, the new leaf has a hole right in the middle (equal length on both sides) and if it were to go on top of the overload spring then it will contact the metal band that holds the 4 pack together. Also, it is a little shorter than the shortest spring in the 4 pack so it shouldn't go on top of the next spring up right? I'm so confused, the instructions are worthless and the only help i can find online is how to do the front, i'm having more trouble out back!! thanks for any help you guys can send me.

I'm not the most familiar with these, but I'm pretty sure that the extra leaf goes over the whole assembly. Here's a pic of one I found.

The add a leaf would go over the over load spring, and under the 4 regular spring like you originally thought.

Alot of the times the metal piece holding the springs together gets in the way, and needs to be moved or modified.

A option would be to remove the metal band and fab 2 pieces of 1" wide and about 3" long, and put one on each side of the spring pack, and put a bolt on top and bottom of the springs(with the add a leaf inside the new bracket), to keep it from move(which can become a problem if just stuck under the 4 springs.

Good luck

another thing when you go to mount it on the axle that pin that is supposed to go into the plate in the axle might be to short...cuz remeber your takin up sum of that pin via that new leaf...go to home depot or sumthin and buy a 1/2 inch rod, pull that old pin out and replaced it with one a little bit longer.....either weld the top of the pin to the spring....or get threaded rod and tighten it with a nut on top.....tell us what goes on!

Add the Add-a-Leaf into the spring pack according to the length, (longest to shortest). Sometimes it will be necessary to add-a-leaf installs into the middle of the spring pack.

Make sure the U-bolts for leaf pack and lift block are long enough.
The add-a-leaf should include a leaf spring bolt and nut, will need to cut the excess thread from the bolt. Use a press or a few C-clamps to compress the leaf springs.
