I have a 78 F150 351M C6 tranny. I was wanting to know if the Dynomax Blackjack headers ,either model 85051 or 85052, would bolt up without any mods being done. If they don't is there any other brand that would work without breaking the bank?
summit brand worked just fine with my 78 150 4x4. heads up tho you will need some pretty tricky pipe work to get around the crossmember. when i post pics i will put some
up of my pipes.
Yeah i also have the Summit headers on my '78. Think I payed $80 for them. and yes it is tricky to clear the crossmember. even with a 6" radius pipe bender I still had to cut and weld the 90 degree bend to clear the crossmember.
I checked out the Summit site and they didn't list their brand for the 2wd trucks, only 4wd. I will call them to see if their headers will work for both.
i got a set of headmen headers from summit. the are fenderwell exit. (HED-89360) for $190. i love them. you have to move the break lines from the master cylander to the frame.
my buddy has fender-well headers on his f150 4x4. the only problem is if you are doing any heavy mud bogging then the collector gets packed with mud and rusts out quiker then you would think. and it restricts your turning radius a little. just my 2 cents as an avid 4x4er
my tires rubbed on the headers (35inches with a 7 inch lift) but only when i flexed it out with the tires turned. so i put 2 inch wheel spacers on the front and back. u can get them on ebay for under $150 for a set of 4. pluss the headers i got have a life time warrenty on them as long as you dont wrap them with header wrap.
