code 628, excessive converter clutch slippage....?????????

Any luck?
I have a '94 F250 HD with a 460 with an E4OD. The trans will sometimes start kicking into gears. After ill gwt the code 628(excessive TC slippage). The weird thing is I'll clear the code and then the trans shifts fine. I have no symptoms of a bad TC but yet the code appears and the trans starts kicking. I'm starting to think something else is setting off the code but not sure
