i just wanted to know how serious this was, what i should do to get it fixed and how much this costs? feel free to point me in the direction of a thread that would tell me.
How serious? If the switch fails (leaks), the truck may spontaneously combust. At any time or place regardless of operating condition or anything else. Homes have reportedly been lost.
Click on SEARCH, enter "Cruise recall" for dozens of posts or threads.
Click on RECALS/TSBs to look up the official word.
Repair is free provided it hasn't burned the truck up.
Just take it to your local dealer. It takes less than 1/2 hr to repair. It will cost you nothing. Unhook the pressure switch on the top of the master cylinder until you get it repaired. It is on the front of the master cylinder and has a 2 wire plug going to it.
Like Steve and Jimmy said, get it in to the dealer ASAP. Got mine done in mid February. The dealer wanted to disconnect the switch long ago but, I use the cruise control daily. When I brought it in, they told me that I needed to leave the truck for the day. I responded that it should take them no more that 30 minutes, and that is with the tech walking out to the back lot, finding the truck, bringing it in, performing the recall, and clocking out on the job. I also added that I was on a day of vacation to get this fixed. They suggested that I get breakfast at the in house restaurant, 5 minute stroll through the dealership where he has many old cars, various makes and models. By the time I finished breakfast and returned, the truck was finished. The cashier said that she had even paged me several times. Thanked her, left there and went to the local tire shop for a rotation and balance. Was home by 10 AM to get other things done.

Just had it done today on my truck it took 5 minutes.
That's how long it took to do mine. The service manager came out with the part after they looked me up in the computer and put that sucker on while it sat in the doorway!
Hi, mine was done in Oct. after I bought it used, wonder why dealer didn't do it before selling? It says deativate for the correction, now I get a letter from Ford stating they don't have any record of this recall being done yet. Hmmm.... is there an actual part or does every one get deactivated where you can't have cruise control?
I just had mine done after recieving several letters from Ford. Most of the 15 minutes was for filling in computer/ paperwork. They added a horrible looking wire assembly to the master cylinder. The connecter on the front of the master cylinder was unplugged and this jumper wire/ fuse combo was plugged between the connecter and the master cylinder. It is about6-8 inches long and it was wire ties to a cable just in front of the master cylinder, and just behind the air filter housing. There is also a blue tag that states not to remove it and what it is for.
i had mines done not too long ago...they add a fuse in between so that if any short happens it kills the connection....could had done that but wanted to save money and have em do it for free in 15 mins
I had mine done in Feb. I bought the truck and the previous owner handed me a letter about the recall. I went to the dealership and had them do the disconnect in Sept, it sucked going to school with no cruise. I would be doing 65 and before I knew it I was doing 75.
