problem with my steering not sure if its the tires or something else
driving along straight and all of a sudden it will jerk left hard have to pull it back quickly doesn t matter what speed im travelling . then its fine just does it occosinally. don t know what to do
I have no idea what it is but it sounds a little like bump-steer. This is caused by several things from a bad shock to bad tie rod ends or ball joints. To check these jack up the front end and try to wiggle each tire. If it wiggles up and down, its probably the ball joints. If it wiggles left to right, it is probably the tie rod ends.
Had a similar problem with 89 F 150. Turned out it was a worn collapsible steering column. Get someone to gently wiggle any play in steering wheel while you have a look at column to see if it's that. Was causing bump steer even at low speeds.
