Tranny problems
Hey guys what up? I just bought a 1992 f250, stick, 4.9L, 2wd. As i was taking it home, i got on the freeway. I put it in 5th gear, then my heart dropped. The tranny popped the shifter out of the gear. I tried it once more and well, it did it again. On my last try, i held the shifter in place. It stayed in place and i traveled maybe 1/4 mile when the shifter began to try to force the gear out until it did. So, i drove it slow and got home on 4th gear. What now though? The tranny does shift smoothly, and a matter of fact i can get it in fifth pretty easy, it just doesnt stay there. The speedometer is not working properly either, i am not sure if that is related at all. Thanks a lot guys.
