Twins for the Twins

My first thought was why would anybody restore a Sunbird, let alone 3 of them, but considering they've got a good chance of being wrecked in the next 12 months I guess I can understand not restoring a couple of Mustangs instead.

you have got to be kidding me, some one has more money than sense. its alright if its just something to hand to a kid to drive, but to brag about it like it was some great restoration project is stupid.

heck, my dad and i fixed up a 1968 camaro for me to drive in high school, but it wasn't the greatest restore job, just some bondo, a cheap paoint job and a good 454 in it, it looked nice but i never went around bragging it was "restored" nor did i act like a dork when we got it running like those two in the article did.

I think its great. The girls expected a Sunbird and were excited about it so he made it come true for them ... twice. One thing I really like about being retired is my ability to do what I like without giving a single thought about what others may think about it; that grandpa probably feels the same way. My oldest granddaughter is 14 now and there's a red '90 Miata in the garage that will be like new for her when she is 16.

dono: We joined the same month and you've got at least 12 times as many posts. I need to work on my output.

I'd rather have the miata than a sunbird. My 17 year old and I are fixing up a '69 Chevy C/10 for him. Not a Ford, but it's still pretty cool.

Maybe he thought "Why risk a couple of classics with 16 year old drivers?" Or it could be he picked them because they were made the same year the twins were born.

Good for you ... doing it togather is the important thing. I had a high frequency of posts back in the Pigpen days when the gloves were off, but I now do most of my serious stuff on another forum (filled with ex-FTE'ers). My post total is growing at a much slower pace now.
