Need help with Codes 21 and 24
I have a 91 F150 XLT Lariat 4X4 which just had a remanufactured 302 dropped in it.
When the engine is cold it has good power and good responce. After it reaches operating temp. the power and responce drops way off. Example: going up hill I am lucky to do 55 mph. This is only when its at operating temp.
I pulled my codes and I get a 21 (ECT out of self test range 0.3 to 3.7 volts.) and 24 (ACT sensor out of self test range 0.3 to 3.7 volts.).
Both of these sensors are new.
I did a resistance and voltage test on them both. The ECT seemed to be within the proper range for the temp. of the vehicle. The ACT had no resistance or voltage at all.
I went to the parts store and said I may have gotten some bad sensors, so they pulled another for me. At the parts store I tested the ACT with a multimeter for resistance, again the ACT gave no readings at all.
Should the ACT test this way? Could a bad ACT cause a bad reading in the ECT since it seemed to check out ok? Is there something else I may be missing or should be doing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chad
