Advice please
I just welded a new piece of metal in a rust hole on my battery apron. I am wondering what to put on the welds to seal them. Also there is some pitting on the metal from battery acid and rust. I would like to smooth out the pits somehow. I am wondering what to use. I believe bondo absorbs water is there another product that can be used or will that be ok. Or is there a better way. Any help appreciated...

Scale loose rust off with wire brush or wire wheel. The treat with some OSPHO or rust-cure. It will turn that rust into very hard zinc or something. Then go over with a metal filler from Autozone (sandable, paintable).
