The answers to all these are similar --"that others may have life and dwell in peace, happiness and freedom."<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O /><O:p< p>

i don't see political, i see that for the existance of civilized people, sacrifices have been made. i hope it doesn't go ballistic. i just meant it as a way to show people that sacrifice is a timeless trait in people
well, i can answer the somalia and iraq question, because their son's VOLUNTEERED.
here is my political thing!! what do you get when you join an Army infranty type thing??? mmmmmm........ i wonder............ combat zones? dangerous situations?
if they didn't want a chance to get put into a hostile enviroment, they should have done a military job that wouldn't have a chance on putting them in harm's way.
and i am not ******* the veterans out there on this, i know alot hate it, and a lot like it, i am ******* the one's who act surprise when something happens then want to blame everyone else, obviously they never heard the oath of allegience an armed forces member takes when they join.
no one forced anyone now days to join.
oh, by the way, i have 9 years military experiance, so this isn't coming from some civilian only guy.
this isn't a politcal thread dammit. this is just a statement to the heart of all men(and women) and the sence of sacrifice that they have for what they believe in. please don't take this down the political road. it's not about any one President. it's about the kids that became heros for doing what most people won't. giving their life for what they belive in.
lenny1carl, your riht, i ran into something along this subject today with someone and it irritated the heck out of me! so of course the first thing i come across on FTE is something along the same subject!
once again.....GO TROOPS!!! and a special GO TROOPS! to Navy SEAL team 10!
I know a guy with a family history that goes back to the Mayflower and includes a number of Revolutionary war vets - they all survived. His Great Great Grandfather survived the civil war. His Grandfather was active during WWII but saw no action (medical) and his dad was in the Guard during nam, so both of them survived. His DD-214 says "RE-R1".
We can all appreciate those that made 'the ultimate sacrifice' in the name of liberty. Let's not forget those that offered the same service and by chance or by deed managed not to die in the process. I presume that those who died generally didn't want to, and those who didn't die often had those same ideals as motive - so that you could live in peace, happiness and freedom.
They volunteer, and then they follow orders into peril. Let's salute all vets.
Wars happen and soldiers die. Nobody likes war and they like burying soldiers even less.
I thank God everyday that there are men and women who are willing to walk a post with an M-16 and protect my freedoms, knowing they may have to kill or may be killed doing it. From personal experience pointing a gun at someone and pulling the trigger is not as easy as it sounds.
A little off topic but here it goes. I was looking through an old hard drive for something I wrote 3 computers ago when I came across family vacation pics from last year. We had the chance to stop at the Federal Building Memorial in Oklahoma City. If you have never been it is worth a trip. I came across the below picture. It is a picture of a message spray painted on the wall of the federal building. Team 5 was a rescue team on site on Oklahoma City. At one point they were ordered off the site and told to go home. They left the site only to return a short time later. During the rescue they painted this message on the side of the building.
In my opinion this message tells us why soldiers die.
