I know mileage with these 6 liters is somewhat of a mystery. I have a 04 that has gotten as good as 20 - 21 consistently, and for the last 6 months getting more like 16 highway after a flash recall last year.
I am considering an 06 now and am wondering how those of you that have went from an 03/04 to an 06 like the change, and can comment on the fuel mileage between the two.
I have heard some positive stuff- just looking for more info/confirmation. I understand that everyone of these beasts are different, but some general trends seem to hold true from year to year.
That is in Canadian gallons by the way- which are about 15% larger than a US gallon. Converted I was getting around 17, now 13/14. thanks for any input.
Before any flashes I got around 18mpg..and mid 19's if I took it easy on the highway. I got a flash and now down to 17...nothing better.
I just did the zoodad mod, ordered MBRP exhaust and will probally get a SCT tuner which I hope to bring my truck to atleast 19-20 mpg.
Cheers.
p.s. Mine is a 2004.
My 06 is getting 17 at 65-70 on my last 300 mile trip. Intown was 10 mpg...ugh.
1600 miles on my rig. I hope as it breaks in that I will see an increase. I haven't had a chance to pull with the 06. I was really happy with my 03's 11-13 mpg pulling my 30 foot travel trailor. Of course, what I really liked was that the truck just doesn't slow down pulling the trailor. My 93 F150 could be taxed with a head wind or hills.
Call me crazy....but here are some new numbers after a mod.
I did the zoodad mod and filled up to see if I had any improvement. I would normally get around 200 miles at the 1/2 tank mark. During our trip it was at 285 miles!
After doing 72-77mph the whole way I filled up at the 1/4 mark. After doing the math (and my wife helped ) I found my highway miles were at 21 mpg from 17.5 mpg.
I thought this couldn't be true...so I watched closely on the return trip. I hit alot of stop and go traffic in New York City and found at 1/2 tank mark I had 250 miles. (from 200 miles average).
Call me crazy...I will continue to watch the numbers closely. I NEVER got that type of mileage out of my truck on a highway trip...usually 18.5 at best. Hopefully it stays around 21 mpg! Just ordered my MBRP exhaust for a reward to my truck
06 F 350 CC FX4 LB I got about 15.5 mpg mixed from new. Now I get about 16.6 mpg mixed with about 11,000 miles on it. I haven't had any long road trips on it yet so it might go up this summer traveling.I travel to work eveyday 48 miles one way to achieve my 16.6 mpg. Towing a 8000lb. load I got 13mpg. All of these were hand calc.I have 3.73 gears.
It would help if they also told us what gear ratios they were running. I'v got an 04-F350-CC-DRW-6.0 with 4:10 LS & get 15/18 mpg freeway & 10.5/13.5 mpg towing our 35 ft. 1/5 WHL
