steering column from econoline

Does anybody know if the steering column from a late 70s early 80s econoline van fits into a 1975 F250 4x4? other than changing the rag joint to steering box shaft, what else is necessary? Looking to do this tranplant for the factory sport steering wheel. Thanks in advance

Van columns are usually Longer than PU columns and aren't inter-changeable.

i dont know for sure but cant the steering wheel be switched from the van to the p/u . just need a steering wheel puller.

Thanks for the replies, the steering wheel base is bigger around than the stock wheel, so to make it look factory I was wanting to use the whole column, does anyone know if the trim ring that holds the signal switch can be changed over to fit the larger diameter wheel

That's called a shifter collar.

I'm pretty sure the collar is different for those years.

The casting number should be stamped on it.

I would suspect the collar to have a different part number since the base of the van wheel is bigger but his question is will the inner part of the base bolt on to a p/u column. Sorry I don't know the answer but if you the van wheel already can't you get the rest of the column and take the collar from it?

If it is the steering wheel mounting that is the concern.

It won't work.

The shaft is the main part of the column that is Length Sensitive, It is all one piece from the steering wheel mounting to the rag joint attachment.
