Tow Command Ques.
Is there any info that came with the truck as to how the tow command is supposed to work I looked in the owners manual and did not see any info i just had it installed on my 05 f250 so I have Ques.

Who installed and if you don't mind how much $$. Dealer that I bought truck at said if it didn't come from the factory you couldn't do it with out replacing abs valve and ect. This is the same guy that told me factory foglamps couldn't be done
and my 12 year old daughter and I did it in about 30 minutes.
I have a 06 but would guess it would be about the same as 05

It`s true you have to replace the master cyl. that has the abs . and also update the pcm & abs sys. was going to do it for my 05 f-350 . tow com is only 125 or so but total with master is 389. and i do the labor , I`m a diesel tech for ford.
also it does not work with elec over hyd. brakes.

Scott Ford sells the kit for around $465 it includes a new master cylinder & controller the controller is plug and play the wiring is allready in place I had my dealer change out the cyl.and reprogam the insrument cluster all for $ 240 a little pricy but having done it I like it much better than having a prodigy hanging of the dash if you have any other questions feel free to pm me

It will work on electric over hydraullic if your trailer has the proper actuator. We had to replace one in order for my truck to pull our boat.

I bought the kit from my local dealer for $400, installed it in about 45 minutes, although most of the time was bleeding the brakes. Dealer also programmed the personality module at no charge.
Works awesome, very smooth.
*many dealers around here told me that there is no such kit, nor can it be retrofitted.
The kit has very detailed instructions and is very easy to install.

2DLAKE- The unit only works with HydraStar sys & ford will not warranty it.
* Under laboratory testing it was possible to make the Ford Tow Command produce error codes even with the HBA-CAM installed. With the gain set at 2 or less, and rapidly cycling the manual braking switch for a minute or more, error codes could be seen. It is important to note that it is inconceivable that this condition would occur in normal vehicle and brake operation.
Again ford will not warranty these errors
