I bought one from Pep Boys when I was in AZ. It was a special order with your choice of tints and only took a week or so to come in. I installed it with the original gasket and the string trick in a snap. That was in 1995 I've had no trouble with it.
You know, I have one in my shop that I was saving for my '69 Ranger but I don't think I am gonna use it. If you would like to save some money, email me at jstrauss@runbox.com and maybe we can work something out.
I've got one as well out of my '70 and I'm changing to a single pane. If it doesnt work out with jas88, lemme know. AllStar7583(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-Jul-02 AT 06:10 AM (EST)]Ok... now that brings up another question.
Why do y'all have them lying around and not installing them? I'm torn between putting one in and just leaving the original glass and simply installing a new seal (I hate to call them "rubbers")
1. Insert the slider frame into the window gasket, use a little clear silicone to ensure a good seal.
2. Take some thin but strong string and tie it around the outside of the window gasket. The string will go in the groove. Leave yourself a "handle" to grab the string.
3. Place the window into the opening, bottom first and have someone hold it in place.
4. grab the "handle" of the string and slowly pull toward you from inside the cab. This will draw the gasket in and the window should go in easily.
If you have an older gasket you may want to lube it a little to try and make it flexible.
I'm going through a restro and I'm not too fond of the look of the slider frame. So i decided to just get rid of it all together. Got a couple horrible pics in my gallery, hoping to get more though.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Jul-02 AT 07:37 AM (EST)]Thanks for all the help... I bought the window from JAS, and ordered a full set of window seals from LMC. Will get a local glass shop to do the install, I wouldn't attempt a front windshield... even if there is a string trick for it
I'll post some pics when it's done. Thanks, John...
