Trailer Plug

Hey,
Here's my problem,I did something wrong big time.
I was trying to hook up taile lights on my boat trailer to my brothers truck.
It's a 2004 F150 2x2 1/2 ton.
On the smaller plug, on the truck. I have Break lights and turn lights on the plug thats on the truck.
But I haven't got tail lights on the plug from the truck.
I replaced the relay R201 in the Auxilliary relay box on the left side of the finder.
Then I checked the plug with a light tester NO light.
This relay is the :Trailer tow park lamps.
There is also a relay in the cab fuse box#201.
Do I also need to change this relay also to get the tail lights to work?
Thanks alot.

Put a long screwdriver on the relay and hold the handle against your ear to see if it's clicking. If it is, then it's working as far as the coil, and I would make sure the fuses that feed the relay contacts are working. I do not have my diagrams with me, or i could tell you the fuse numbers.

So I should hear the relay clicking when I have the lights on the truck on.
But if one of the 201 relays is not working, would I hear, the one thats working?
Do they work together?
I'm not good at all with this Electrical stuff.
Wish I had not tried to wire the boat to his truck.
Any other help that I can get would be very helpful,Thanks

Look in the owners manual to see if there's also a fuse for the trailer light system. The fuse space may be empty right from the factory.

Yes
Theres a 20 amp fuse in loaction 10,in the cab.
I changed this fuse, but the old one looked ok.
I changed this one just to be safe.
I think that I got the taile light wire, on the truck frame and got a short.
I then plug into his travel trailer 7 wire plug.
We didn't have any tail lights on his travel trailer also.
Sure wish I could get this to work.
Thanks

Seperate the truck & trailer.
Use a test light to confim the plug on the truck is working properly.
Use a spare battery or small charger to provide power to the trailer plug.
Get a good ground on the trailer for the negative.
Use a jumper wire to feed positive into each terminal in the trailer plug.
On the 7 pin I have, the male plug from the trailer, with the alignment key pointing down, count counter-clockwise to the third terminal (or the one @1 o'clock). This is tail lights with a green wire on mine.
Give this a try & see what you get.
