I just bought a 351w HO with a 4-barrell carb. It came out of a 85 Bronco and I am going to install it in my 1974 Bronco which has a 4in lift. The 351w has everything on it including alt and air condition.
My question is What parts do I need to put it in my 74 bronco.
Can I keep the alt, waterpump etc.. or use the one on the 302.
Can you please give me a parts list so I can have everything when I take it to the mechanic!!!
the headers should work, the oil pan will not as the crank mains are bigger so they made the ends of the block where the pan seals bigger making the 302 pan to small. i believe the 70s ford trucks use a different style power stearing pump then is used in 85 as well. the alternator should be the same. Trying to rember it all i personaly have a 1980 ford f150 but my dad has a 75 f 350. i believe they used a different style ac compressor on the 85 comapred to the 74 as well.
you can buy the adaptors so all the factory brackets will adapt to the 351w. that will keep the front end all original. the throtle rod going to the carb has to be lengthened. i had to notch the bracket to the brake booster to clear the valve cover. i used 302 headers but they were very tight to the frame and brake lines but they worked. original drop air cleaner fit also under the hood.
