How do you replace a parking brake cable?
The parking brake cable on my 1989 E-150 broke some weeks ago. I noticed that the swedge (sp?) broke off the cable at the coupling cap. I purchased a new brake cable assembly, Raybestos Part BC93892 for a 124" WB. I removed the old assembly and compared it with the new one and they look the same length. I installed the new assembly and connected the swedged ball to the coupling cap. The only problem is the entire assembly is quite loose. When I depress the p brake all the way it does not have any tension. I tried to adjust the cable tensioner assembly but to no avail. The thing is still pretty loose. Any ideas would be appreciated. Maybe I need to buy a new cable tensioner assembly.

Parking Brake Cables - Aftermarket
I was at the Ford dealership the other day and mentioned this problem to the guy at the parts counter. Ford does not carry parking brake cables for my 1989 E-150. So, I had to order an aftermarket Raybestos cable. The Ford parts guy said that he has heard that aftermarket brake cables are not the exact size as the OEM part, which are no longer available. Anyone else have the same problem?
