Header bolts...

Is it a myth that you have to tighten headers bolts every so often because they work themselves loose?

Thanks for the all replies,
Jason

It depends, if you use a fiber base gasket with anti-seize (a must) the gasket will compress hence loose bolts besides they back out. If you go to dead soft copper or copper gaskets with embossed port sealing area, go thru a couple heat cycles then retorque and forget for years. At 34 years over 900K miles this is what works with me and headers.

Awesome, so I definitely need to go with some copper gaskets... I was at AutoZone today and saw some gaskets that were pretty thick and were like $40 they weren't copper but very beefy for header gaskets might give them a try and I also saw some stage 8 header bolts that are suppose to come with fasteners that lock in the bolts that way they don't back out any here is a link to those stage 8 bolts. You have probably seen these before I can imagine....
