have an 82 f-150 with 7200vv carb. the venturi diaphram had a tear in it causing it to run badly.I rebuilt the carb but apparently got the float setting wrong. I pulled the carb back off to reset the float but I have a puddle of gas in the intake,need to know how to remedy this situation. I was thinking maybe pull the spark plugs and turn the engine over to let it push out.I figure on new plugs,oil and filter.Any advise will be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

Just soak it up with a couple of paper towels. The crank it over a couple of times with the coil unhooked then reinstall the carb. It should be fine.

thanks alot I'll do that.Another question,how would I go about testing the float to see if it might be bad? It's the rubber type.

It should float. That's about it. You can put it in a container of water to make sure that it floats.

thanks. I already put it in a container of gas and it was ok.I finally got a hold of a dial indicator to go over my bench settings,put it on and I'm happy to say I'm on the road again.Thanks for all the help.
