SAS Shock question..

Ok, I've about got all the peices I need for my SAS put together. However, I had bought 4 Rancho 5000's from a kid and he said they were a 4-6" lift. Well...they were for a 2.5" lift and could "work" on a 4" lift. Crap. I'm still going to use two in teh rear and just relocate my lower shock mount (I know the angularity will be off, but I'll deal with that at a later date). The front is where I need help. I'm going to be using Fabtech 8" lift coils for 2WD's, which is worth 6" of lift on the 4WD. They're a progressive rate coil and relatively flexy. Not quite as flexy as a Deaver superflex, but still soft. So I need a decent shock. What would you all recommend? I'm sticking with the upper stud mount that comes with the TTB upper's, and will be using the solid axle lower. I'm looking to spend between 40 and 60 dollars a shock max, what do you guys recommend though?

Nobody has any sort of an opinion on the direction I should go?

I can go Bilstein for 75 a pop, which is a bit higher then I'd wanted. Not sure what Rancho 9000's cost. I assume Pro Comp ES9000's aren't worth buying the first time, right? Pro Comp rarely is. What about Skyjacker's shocks? I think they had some that were priced a bit under the Bilsteins. Just looking for opinions on shock performance and such.

I used these on my 94 sas. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku
They dont seem bad for an inexpensive shock but I did put four on my front end because I wanted a stiffer ride. I have about 10 inches of lift. There are pics in my gallery.

What kind of coils are you running? Are you using the stock TTB uppers? What vehicle did you source your axle out of? is it a 77.5-79 D44, or earlier D44? Anything have to be "tweaked" to make them work?

I am running Skyjacker 6 in. coils for a 79 Bronco. I got them used so I can't be 100% sure about the brand but thats what I was told. I got the uppers from JBG and lowered them around 5 in. from stock. It's a 78 d44. I made some shock hoops that welded on the frame to mount them to because when I got rid of my factory uppers I lost my mounts.
The rear shock is mounted about 2 inches lower than the front because of the angle of the radius arm. I'm happy with the setup and the shocks. Just waiting for some blue boots lol. Here's some updated pics-

Here are some pics of the rear shocks. Same brand and size using stock mounts on truck and 9 inch rear.

Yell if any more questions. Happy to help.
