Nickel steel.
No corrosion (aka rust) from skin oils.
No corrosion saves your fingers.
Flat wound bass strings....Reduce the sawing sound as you slide your fingers over the strings
I really like the mellow sound of nylon but they are a real bear to keep tuned as they keep stretching almost forever.
On my Martin I use SP's. Lights or Mediums, depending on my mood.Usually lights.
For my next set, I may try those Elixirs. I have heard good things about them.

I use the XPs on my Martin too and I really like them. However, I've got an Indiana (Realtree camo colored) and they don't sound that great on there so I think I'm gonna go back to lights.
olfordsnstone, keep us posted on how those elixers work. I don't know about their acoustic strings but I heard that their electric strings are awesome. I may try some on my strat before too long.
rednekrailroader,
I believe Alverez is putting Elixirs on all of their guitars. Or it may have been just the store that was carrying the guitars I was looking at recently. But they all had Elixirs on them in that store.
They are supposed to hold up alot longer as they keep fingure oils out of the strings longer. I think the SP's may actually sound better when new but the Elixirs hold virtually the same good sound longer.
Just what I have heard.
