gas tank problem
everytime i try to put gas in it always spills ,its takes me so long to pump gas because i have to pump so slow whats the problem and how can i fix this,the line from the tank to the gas cap looks to be running up hill into the tank because it has to lay on top of the frame help help please im so tired of this ,im getting ready to paint and dont want it spilling down the side of fresh paint that will suck

What year is the truck? My guess is you have a filler in the side of the bed and the filler neck is not angled but instead, it points straight out from the bed. These filler necks have been a problem ever since the gas pump nozzles were changed to one of the newer vapor recovery nozzles. I managed to find a station where the rubber seal is missing from the nozzle on some of the pumps. I pump with those and except for the final 3 gallons, the tanks fills like it did in the 70s. Sometimes the tank will fill better if you hold the nozzle upside down as you fill the tank. Welcome to the club...

The fill and vent lines both have to be free of kinks. The beds on these trucks are often rotted and pinch the hose. The fill hose runs downward all the way unless the tank is not mounted correctly. My 78 fills easily.
