I have the opprotunity to buy a 1985 Ford FOX body LTD wagon, 139,000 miles, exterior in good shape, almost NO rust, interior in nice shape, tinted windows, vinyl or leather seats, PW/PL some dont work but oh well, its got AC and the corner vent wing windows in the front. its got a 3.8L V6 seller is a mechanic by trade and says last time he drove it, it ran great, about a year ago, i havent heard it run yet cause it needs a battery, he's gonna put one in it tomorrow, he's asking $800 firm, is this a good deal? seems like it to me.
as long as it runs good, and is well taken care of, yes I'd say its a great deal. I mean you're getting a full frame vehicle with a good old Ford V6 motor, rear wheel drive, and an automatic like an AOD or C4 I think. tough car. my aunt had one, but hers was always bein fixed cause she neglects vehicles beyond belief.
I had a 84 LTD great tough car. My wife and friends hated it.It was two tone Gold and pale yellow. I gave in and sold it. Wish I still had it I loved that car. A coworkers girl friend bought it she needed a car for a few months till she bought a new one.
That was two years ago and she is still driving the LTD.
Only real problem was had to replace the head gaskets once. All other problems were minor.
I have similarly heard good things on the durability of the cars. I see quite a few here that have had the crap beaten out of them and are still being driven, sounds like a pretty good testament to me.
well, i got to drive the car today, it runs like a dream and drives like one too, ive made a deal to buy it now. Cant wait to get it paid for, oughta be mine in a few weeks

Good for you. I have a Fairmont and a Zephyr, great cars. Both of them have the 3.3L straight six. Bulletproof motors, not great economy, but dependable. My kid says he'll drive the Fairmont until it no longer runs. He loves the thing.
I remember my mom having a 1980 Fairmont with that 3.3L motor in it. it was a VERY rugged car, we drove that thing till the tranny gave out, and it didnt go anywhere under its own power.I miss that car so much.
