A/C leak

I think i have a leak in my A/C coolant lines but am not sure of how to find it? are there any simple ways of doing this and is fixing a leak cheaper then replacing the hoses? My dad used to work on air conditioners and he said that coolant doesnt just go bad, you have to have a leak. Otherwise i would have replaced the coolant and been done with it. Its gettin real hot here and i need my AC or the truck will just have to sit for a while!

You can get a leak detector kit just about anywhere, it's comes with a can of florescent that you charge into your AC system and a black light pen to find your leaks.

That is very few places.
The evaporator coil inside the heater is the only place you can not see. There are no connections in there.

Where there is refrigerant, there is oil. If you don't find it in the engine compartment, when you check the evaporator (inside) or the condensor(in front of the radiator), look for oil, then use the flourecent detector.
