Hi, I was looking at a allison transmission to install in a f350 with a 460 engine. The guy told me his transmission was behind a ford 361 gas engine. I have never herd of a 361. Is this a mistake? Will the bell housing bolt up to my 460? I am towing a 44 ft tralier and the c6 won't take it, i change the fluid every 500 to 1000 miles and it is burnt almost black each time. I also change filter and drain converter every other time.
361 I believe is either a Truck/Heavy Duty version or a Mercury version of the FE family of engines (360,390,410,428). If WILL NOT Bolt up to your 460 pattern.

The 330, 361 and 391 were FT engines, for Ford Truck. They were a variation of the FE engine.
Nothing interchanges with an FT or FE except another one.
THANKS for all your help. I learned something today
