I didn't go since my Dad gave me our '78 F-250 so I spent all day working on it. I heard prices went skyhigh, like a rolled '76 Ford 8000 cement truck with a load of hardened cement went for $6000. What would you do with a 4 ton chunk of cement?
So I was the only one there? Well I might as well tell you about my new treasure. It's a 1967 Ford 3/4 352 4 spd. the last liscence was in 1976. I think most people there thought it was siezed but when I tugged on the fan blades i clearly saw it turning over. My dad had bid 50 on it but then he quite once the auctioneer said 175 I bidded, if someone went 200 I would have went 225 but I got it for 175.
The truck has black front fenders so I guess it used tobe a town of Moose Jaw truck. There is no body rust and the cab mounts are prefectly in tact. It came with 4 good 16in. tires. After we trailiored it home i learned the lights still all work and brakes are good. The windshield back window and dash board were hit with something heavy and need TLC.
The truck had no spark but with parts that I found in glove box (points, rotor, condenser) she fired up with little grief. I replaced a leaking fuel pump and currently replacing a leaking water pump. Even though I could probally semi fix the carb. I just decided to remove and get a kit. There are several donor parts coming from our 71 but in total I'm very pleased.
They should have phoned the Myth Busters to get the concrete out of the truck. They did a show on that once, put in a stick of dynamite and set it off, nothing so they put in a few more sticks, still nothing so they put in a hole bunch and blew that truck to pieces. All that was left was an axle and part of the cab.
Sounds like you got a good deal and a good reason to be very pleased, with no rust in the cab and the mounts it`s sweet. Dad bought a brand new 67 Mercury Ranger with a 352 and three on the tree. Great truck but it was hard to keep rubber on the back tires for some reason!
My dad used to own a 67 1/2 with a 352 4 spd. Used to go around every corner in high gear. At Davidson there were 2 other 1967 both half tons. There was one 300 4spd. 50 thousand original miles great lookin truck great floor boards no rust anywhere mint condition. Sold for 300 bucks. (okay I guess the cab was crushed from a telephone pole) There was another 1/2 ton 352 3 spd. engine turned over body nothing to get too excited about but 85 bucks. (I should have bought it.)
