I'd look into making a box just under the dash, that way you have easy access to it. The only thing I don't like about the glove box is the reach over.
I really like the idea of an overhead setup, but haven't seen a ready made setup that I liked. Over head would be great as you could make an extra storage box there too.
My kids bought me a nice MP3 player for Father's Day and I'm trying to decide how to mount it. I have the stock radio in the dash so I don't want to screw with that. I have speakers in the doors so I'm OK there. I guess I could just throw it in the glovey. What's everybody else doing with after market stereos in the old F-100s?

i made removed the faceplate and fashioned one out of sheet metal that accepts aftermarket stereos. if you don't wan't to go that route, j.c. whitney sells a headliner that has a place for a stereo and speakers. i believe lmc truck sells one also
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Jun-02 AT 09:39 PM (EST)][link:www.roddoors.com/sounds.html|Check this site out.] They have an overhead consol and what looks to be an underdash console. And they are a heck of a lot cheaper than the other aforementioned products. Don't know if they will work in 67-72 trucks, but you can always call and ask!

Hi guys
I have a friend that uesd an install kit for a 1986 volvo on his 71 and it snapped in to where the stock radio comes out of. It looks great and covers the hole all the way. He has a CD player. The only thing is you have to attach it to the dash.. I am going to do it to my truck real soon. We got the install kit at the local Radio Shack. Good luck Doug
we put a indash cd player / radio in the 71 f 100 my son and i restored . took out oem used a universal retro install kit i bought at a local auotillusions . took very littel modification no cutting , installed in the dash hole , made a couple brackets out of metall strapiing and fastened behind dash . no visable mounts . the only special thing i had to do was take one of the face plates from the kit and cut it on my band saw to the angle of the 71 dash as a cover plate looks great , solid and covers entire exsisting hole. we custom made 2 boxes under the seat for the 8 inch subs 6inch triaxes in doors and built a box wich covers interior gas tank behind seat and installed pair of 5 inch coaxes in it . we then used the front of box to mount 2 200 watt amps for subs and crossover. the truck belongs to my 17 year old son .
I had my in-dash CD player installed at CAR-TOYS - They used a Volvo kit and turned it up-side down- Apperently a Volvo's dash slants outward from the bottom, just reverse of the 67-72's Looks real good.
