pinging problem
i changed plugs last fall with autotlite platinums. do they make single platinums and double?. anyway i can't remember i put double platinums in or not.
i thought valves were rattling or it was pinging as motoring up the hill.
has little hesitation and i would floor it to kick in passenger gear to get up the hill.one mechanic said it could be the plug wires or he said go back to oirginal plugs.think timing could be off a little or plug problem. a suggestions
Possible causes: dirty MAF sensor, carbon buildup (more common on 4.0L's I believe), bad tank of gas, lots of things.
Does the '00 3.0 have a distributor like the older ones? Not that familar with the 3.0L's, I guess someone may have advanced it. The hesitating might be related to that. Is the truck missing when this happens?
I used to have a predetonation problem in my '95 2.3L. I always had to run at least 89 octane. When I was having ignition problems last month, I had to take the truck to the Ford Dealership. They told me my truck had the wrong program in the PCM, so they reflashed it. I ended up replacing the PCM anyway (it was bad), and it runs on 87 now. The new program helped.
Get Motorcraft AGSF32FMF6 plugs and gap them to .044.

it seems to have slight miss in it, i use 87 octane it my 3.0 .. i see motorcraft came out with a wire spark plug.its due for new plug wires.i should go to the garage and get the codes scanned and see if anything shows up.
