one thing to think about is i don't think plastic is as good of a thermal conductor as metal therefore the cooling may be less with a plastic cover but i don't really know
I read a diff cover shootout in one of the off road magazines a while back. If memory serves the cleargearz help up very well aganst the traditional steel and aluminum covers.
