4x4 indicator light stuck on

Hey all, new to the forum. Just bought a 90 F150 5.0 automatic 4x4. When I bought it, I noticed that the 4x4 light did not come on when engaging 4hi or 4low. I figured it was a bad bulb. When I pulled the dash I found the bulb missing, and after replacing it found that it is always on. Well, almost always. Manual shift 4x4 Borg Warner 1356. Placing the manual 4x4 shift in neutral turns the light off, but putting it in 2hi (or 4hi, 4lo) turns the light back on. I know I'm actually in 2hi when selected based on how it drives. I pulled the 4x4 indicator switch from the tc today, but it seems to be ok. any thoughts?

pull the bulb back out. I think you know what gear you are in without a light telling you.

Looks like I found the problem. I replaced the switch on the transfer case with a new (used) one and it seems to be working. I thought the switch was just on/off, but it looks like it is actually a three position switch, 4lo/4hi/off. Probably the original switch was worn to the point where it wasn't returning to off.

I'm thinking the poster wanted a fix...looks like he found it on his own.

I think this nothing more than a idiot light since it's a manual application, i.e. no electric shift.
