My 93' f250 w/ 460 does something strange in the way it pulls fuel from the tanks.
If I start with an empty front tank and a full rear tank, by the time the rear tank is 1/2 empty, the front tank shows 1/4 full (remember it started out empty). it ( the front) indeed does end up with fuel in it as I toggle over to it later to finish off my fuel.
Sounds like there is some bleed over to the front tank from the return line.
Anyone else notice this?
Is there a check valve or other component responsible for this?
Check valves in the front tank pump module are bad. Take a few minutes and read all of the fuel tank posts here. Yours is the typical pump/tank problem....... replace front fuel pump.
My son's 1991 F250 with 460 motor had to have both fuel pumps replaced.
The new fuel pumps (and new wiring harness for them) have the check valve installed inside each pump. We replaced one at first, but problem was still present and then after two new pumps.... good to go!!!
There was an old TSB and old NHSTA recall for this issue, but it has expired. I even tried having the govt. re-instate as the front tank would pressureize and spit gas all over my son when he opened it and gas would go on the ground (environmental and safety issue)... but no luck and no reply (typical)!!
