Ok here's the problem, I just replaced my MC because it was leaking, and I'm currently tracing out problems with the brakes on my 79 Bronco.
I have excellent braking in the front disks, but on my rears I have no fluid, period. I don't think it's making it through the line. The lines don't appear to be pinched, so I'm thinking it's my Proportioning valve.
When I'm looking at it, and get someone to pump the brake, it leaks through the sensor... This seems odd, and none performance enhancing. The new PP valve is $260 canadian. So I'm thinking of picking one up at the wrecker.
Is there a way I can plug off the sensor port, because I really don't care if I have a light telling me that I'm braking. I'll figure that out, when I hit the pedal.
Also is there any other way of testing to see if I have any other problems with the rear brakes?
It is a valve that cuts off fluid to the circuit with pressure loss. You have to reset it. The switch lets you know you have lost a circuit, the front is pretty obvious, the back is not sometimes. What it does is allow you to slow down, pump the brakes, and be reaching for the parking brake if the lamp lights.
Sorry to bring up this old thread guys but I have the same problem. How do you go about reseting the valve? Will a valve from a 2wd work on my 4wd? Also, I have a 77 f-150, it should be close to the bronco but im not positive. Thanks
Do I have to have this tool or can i do it with a needle nose? How long does it have to be held open? Do I need to pump the brakes or have the motor running while this valve is open? Sorry about all the ?s but I've never done this before and I really need to get my brakes working as fast as possible, thanks.
