I was curious as to how hard does your auto shift from 2nd to 3rd.
I've only had mine for almost 2 months and noticed the shift was pretty firm with no load (more firm than the 1-2 shift) but today I hooked up my boat and felt a little uneasy at how hard it shifted, not as bad as a race type shift kit but hard enough to make you take notice. I feel like I have to time the shift and let off the gas, then its pretty smooth.
I also just did the 6637 mod and noticed when it shifts I hear a whine/hiss noise.
Is this the turbo or the tranny slipping, I only notice the hiss at shifts.
Its an 01 X 66000 miles
No mods except air filter.
Thats normal. with the increased load, the torque converter locks up to keep the temp's down, and it stays partially locked during the change. this simulates a clutchless shift on a manual transmission. no slipping to make the shift smoother. you should feel it when you have a manual line lock, it will really jar you when it's shifting.
the woosh noise when you let out of the throttle is normal, it is the air that is not needed escaping back out the way it came in. nice sound, eh?
I have a stock tranny other than the sonnax mod and it shifts hard once in a while empty but shifts decisive and less firm under load. I don't know what that means, but that's what it does.
