Is there a particular year you're looking at? 78-91 D60 axles use kingpins whereas the D44's used a balljoint. Look at the top of the knuckle. D44's will be ball joint, having 1 giant nut on the top of the knuckle. D60's (from 78-91) will have a cap on the knuckle with 4 bolts in a rectangular pattern that hold the cap on. If you see the 4 bolts on each side it's a D60. Of course later model D60's went to ball joints so don't get them mixed up.
Probably a closed knuckle, drum brake dana 44. Then again, you might get lucky, and they swapped in a $5000 dynatrac 60 I wouldn't hold my breath, though.
