Does anyone have any pics to show on how to change the downpipe and what mods he did to the firewall etc???
I've been searching in here and it seems they are a buggar to change. I've been reffered to get a 3.5" but it sounds like guys struggle to get the 3" in??
Where should I get it from?(affordable) Also what size pipe should I go from there on out?
Is a muffler really neccesary, not legally speaking but for the betterment of the engine?
They are a pain in the rear to install, I found some where searching through Google of a site that had really good instructions on how to do it. But stupid me never bookmarked it. I borrowed a sawz-all to cut the stock dp of at the turbo, get a couple extra blades cause you'll need them. Then used it again to cut slits in the lip where the firewall and floorpan meet. Took a bottle jack and some 2x4 to fold it over. A little persuasion with a pry bar to clearance a little more of the firewall, it was able to fit in. Hopefully some others will chime in.
I have my new downpipe and exhaust and I'm waiting for my 2" bodylift to arrive. I'm going to do everything at once when that gets here. The extra 2" of clearance makes it a breeze to install your new downpipe and you don't have to do any major mods if you go with only 2" of lift. I'm also going to pull off the turbo, free the motor and see if I can jack it up enough to pull the oilpan so I can get my through-pan dipstick fitting out of the bottom of the pan and back on the side where it belongs. I can not wait. I'm sure it will all make a big difference. I put on my new 6637 air filter today and it really sucks, air that is. I can definitely tell the difference. The turbo spools quicker. I can feel the better push. It is louder but not in turbo whine. It is louder in being able to hear the sucking air action.
I have some basic pics in my gallery they are a little pain to put in I put three of them in obs trucks two of tymars and one from a place out of florida I can't remeber the name of now. I didn't like it at all but the friend I put it in for found it for ten dollars cheaper than tymar but cussed it after he compared it to mine. Mine goes from 3 to 3.5 then to 4 inch very quickly. I run straght pipe with no muffler and love the sound. One I put in for a friend has the muffler and while a small amount deeper tone I still like my whistle and noise better. His isn't much louder than stock but more whistle than stock.
ive done 2 also. it doesnt take long. i did both tymars.
it starts out a 3 and then goes to 3.5 or 4 in my case. whatever you want he has. the firewall modification is not bad at all. just a little beating on it and you got it.
edit:
my first time on my truck i got a 3-3.5 and cat delete. it was cool and then i got a 4" system from him so i had to buy a new lower section of the dp. i shouls of just bought the whole system from the get go. o n my dads we did a 3-3.5 and cat delete.
imho just do the whole thing now and save $ and time.

Here is a good set of instructions with pics.
I've done a couple of them and the hardest part(IMHO) is getting the old one out. The rest is easy if ya got the right tools. I got a porta-power and that made my last one a breeze.
Where did you get your body lift? I have looked all over the place and I cannot find one for a diesel.
An ebayer by the name of sportztrailers. Tomorrow it's a month. I'm not in a hurry. I actually ordered it when my truck was dead and I couldn't get it running for three weeks. Price is cheap($108 delivered). The tech notes say it won't fit a diesel but no one knows why. A lot of guys with diesels have used this kit with success. The best guess anyone has come up with why this won't fit diesels is that an intercooler would or could interfere with the installation. Other than that it seems to work fine.
