I have a 2005 FX4 SC 5.5 bed. I also have bed rails but no bedliner as of now. Are the rails(gray ones on top of box on either side) going to be a problem for this cover? Can't find much on it but see some pictures with similiar trucks and it looks like most have the rails. Noticed some covers say cannot use with bed rails. Also looks like the cover just sits on the rails. Does it flop around at all and does it pretty much lie flat or is there a slight hump to it?
Yeah, I love it! Its the best of both worlds. It has the flexibility of a soft tonneau (can roll it up), as well as the ease of use of a hard tonneau (can be removed in 4 seconds in 1 piece). Yes, it lays flat on the rails. The handle assemblies which grab underneath the bed rails can be adjusted to allow for more "downward pull" if you want.
Havent got a bedliner yet and am still looking at different ones. Is there a certain type that will interfere with the cover? Going to save some money and not get a spray in.
Well the locking handles will work without notching like I did, but it wasnt enough for my liking. One of these days Ill fire up the Dremel, and cut my hack job straight, so it looks better. The way I see it, where I cut will have no effect on the functioning of the liner. Not a big deal to me.
Was wondering snaps or snapless? What is the pros and cons?
If you get the snapless is the cover permanently fixed to the frame? No way to open unless you tilt or open tailgate?
Anyone who has either please help. By the way I went with the Ford rubber bed mat w/ f 150 logo and the hard shell for the tailgate also from ford. Total was about $120. I installed the mat myself!!!!!
Also what kind of security is this cover with the tailgate locked? I know if someone wanted to get in they could(knife) but how is it for just the grab and run thieves?
Well I dont trust snapless. Its just a plastic trim that sits in a channel. I dont see it lasting forever. I like snaps, not only for function, but looks as well. With the full tilt locked, its not getting opened. If you want the most secure...moded fiberglass is the way to go. I cant worry about it. If a theif wants something bad enough, they WILL take it.
So there is no getting in the snapless from the sides, it IS attached permanently?
That would be a problem if it started to come apart. I live in upstate NY where we get some bad weather.
Plus I guess if you were out and needed the bed for something big, snaps you can roll it up and put the frame in your bed and done. Snapless you can't do it, if it is fixed permanently.
