Continental Tire Strategy

I've had noticeable vibrations present in my 2005 Expedition beginning soon after purchase. I had it in for service with less than 12,000 miles and requested analysis, including road force balancing. They couldn't find anything wrong and sent me on my way. The vibration is worsening now, even on deccelaration. The dealer says the tires need a road force balance (surprise!), but that it isn't covered under warranty. They had me call Ford, which was a waste of time, and then agreed to contact the regional representative, who presumably can authorize this work under warranty.

From peoples' experience with these problems (and getting this work approved), how best to discuss this with the regional Ford representative?

There is a TSB on this issue; force the issue with the dealer

You may want to have a specialist check the alignment! I just had my 2005 Eddie Bauer edition aligned and it was out of alignment and I only have 19k on it.

Finally was able to speak with the head of the service department. At my request, they contacted the regional Ford representative. Without much comment, they denied any warranty-related coverage for these tires. Next step is to try the Dispute Settlement Board...

Forgot about this thread from the past. The Dispute Settlement Board actually agreed with me--they mandated a full alignment and road force balancing. After all of this, the ride is much better. It was helpful that I had saved all of my service requests as supporting documentation.
