I've got an 83 f-150 that is in the process of resto-modding. my biggest hurdle right now seems to be finding a bed. The seem to come with a variety of problems:
-They are short beds (mine is long)
-they are rusted and beat far beyond the asking price
-they are mint and command more than the price of a good used truck
-they are dually
I know that duallies for the 80's used a fiberglass fender, and I have seen quite a few for sale recently. I figured if I got a bed from the 80-86 years i didn't have to bother with patching in the right wheel well in the future, and my welding skills aren't the best. My question therefore is this: If I got a bed from an early 80's dually, could i simply remove the fiberglass fenders, plug the holes and repaint, or is the fiberglass more than just bolted/riveted on? Thanks for the input.
