I have a 2000 Lariat 4x4 5.4L and have noticed a squeaking coming from the front (can't yet figure out if its left or right or both) I thought it was coming from the left, but last night was a passenger and it sounded as though it was from the right.
The squeak is not constant, and when I brake it stops squeaking. Take my foot off the brake and the squeak is back. Is this a brake problem? the truck has about 102k miles and the brake pedal feels like it goes down a fair way before any decent stopping comes along.
I am hoping its just rotors and pads need changing (see my post under the Brakes section for opinions on a decent set). Anyways, hoping someone can tell me if this could be the brakes so I know where to start looking when I get a wheel off.
