I've been messing around with my motors to see if they can be made to work. There are three on the shelf. The two that I've had apart both had the leather seal which looks like it fits into the beveled protrusion coming down from the top plate, worn badly. I cleaned the better one up and added a small amount of fresh grease, but it doesnt seem to work. It has a vacuum leak. Does anyone have a schematic of the parts of the motor and airflow diagram, or any other suggestions?
Try some vegatible oil, make sure all parts are clean then reassemble. You may have to work it a little, and it might come back, if not try another leather and do the same.
Another tip that works, ever go up a small grade and find when you step on the gas your wipers either stop or slow down a lot.
Take that useless factory oil filter, and put it to good use. Block off all the oil supply to the filter, and to the oil pan, then hook it up to the vacum side for a reserve, works good and that now useless oil filter becomes a new usefull accessory.
I've got a '46 sedan assembly that I ran for awhile and then replaced with an electric unit. Works fine and is complete. It even has the dash control **** and cable.
