Occasionally the WW will decide to wipe the windshield any ideas?
The door ajar light would come on occasionally and go out and now it's on almost all the time ,had to pull the fuse, knida a pain ,now it's dark all the time. relay appears to work ,I imagine there's a timmer or something somewhere that's giving trouble, any Ideas?
And last there appears to be a popping noise in the left front of the truck , shocks and wheel bearings and ball joints appear to be ok, any ideas?
Thanks for any help in advance.
That popping may be a brake problem.
The lights staying on is because the door switch is sticking. It is part of the latch, so just spray both latches down with WD-40 every time you change the oil.
The wiper problem is caused by the multi-function switch, if I'm remembering correctly.
At the top of the forum there is a thread marked "Read First" (AKA a sticky) entitled Tech. Information. I believe that it contains links to information about both.
As for the popping, when does it occur? That may narrow it down some.
As far as the light goes as I am driving and the lights are out suddenly the warning chime comes on,door ajar comes on and I didn't even open the door?? seems more to me like the timer might be malfunctioning if so equipped?
I'll check the sticky and see what I can find.
the wipers the same, just driving down the road not a cloud in the sky and bam!.. the wiper make one or two wipes and down they go?
As far as the popping goes ,I found a slightly loose bearings and tightened the bearing nut alittle and that took the play out of that.otherwiseyou can feel it when you are driving and hitting bumps in the road, have checked the ball joints and appear ok.Every thing appears to be tight but apparently not..??..
As far as the wipers going without actually turning the switch, it sounds like it's grounding itself out. It may be inside the combo lever (whatever you want to call it) or maybe it's not the switch and the wires are grounding themselves out in another part of the truck. I would suggest taking a look at the switch first. Maybe grab one out of a boneyard and see how that works.
I have the exact same truck as you. I consistently have the door ajar problem, but I don't have the popping or phantom windshield wipers. Good luck in your ventures and may the Tech Thread provide some useful information.
I've never had any trouble with my multifunction switch, but it seems as though I've read of those symptoms before, and that being the cause. Do a search of the forum if there isn't anything in the Tech. sticky.
As for the popping, did you check that the brake calipers are tight?
